Ron DeSantis after the former GOP presidential candidate privately urged former President Donald Trump to not use "identity politics" when picking his running mate. "chicken fingers and pudding cups is what you will be remembered for you sad little man," Chris LaCivita, who co-manages Trump's campaign, wrote on X in response to a news article about DeSantis' comments. But I don't want people representing 10, 15% of the party being in the driver's seat," DeSantis told supporters on the call, according to audio NBC obtained. DeSantis may have also insulted Susie Wiles, a one-time ally who along with LaCivita leads Trump's campaign, during the call. According to NBC, the Florida governor blamed certain people in Trump's orbit for the former president's treatment of him.

There may be advantages to owning corporate bonds right now. JPMorgan's Bryon Lake believes his firm's Ultra-Short Income ETF (JPST) is ideal for those looking to make money outside the volatile stock market. "Some of the corporates got higher quality than the U.S. government [bonds] right now," he told CNBC's "ETF Edge" this week. Lake, JPMorgan's global head of ETF Solutions, also sees the firm's active management strategy as an advantage of owning the JPST. Strategas Securities' Todd Sohn also likes corporate bonds, citing the the monetary policy backdrop.

Active ETFs have attracted $100 billion of net inflows over the past 12 months, according to a report from State Street. The growth of active ETFs could help other Wall Street firms take on the industry's dominant players. Some smaller JPMorgan active equity funds that have brought in cash this year include JPMorgan Active Value ETF (JAVA) and the JPMorgan Active Growth ETF (JGRO) . Two-thirds of U.S.-centric active funds fell short of their relevant indexes in the first half, according to a report from Morningstar. Active funds did fare better than passive funds in many categories, like small cap growth — perhaps a more fair comparison, given that passive funds do include fees and trading costs — but underperformed significantly in the popular large-cap blend category, according to data from Morningstar Direct.

Goldman Sachs filed last week to launch two similar funds: the Goldman Sachs U.S. Equity Premium Income ETF and the U.S. Tech Index Equity Premium Income ETF. Some other funds that use some form of a covered call strategy similar to JPMorgan's approach with equity linked notes are already on the market. The JPMorgan funds both have an expense ratio of 0.35%. However, even a fund that did exactly that would likely not be an option for some financial advisers until it had an established track record, giving the JPMorgan funds a big head start. The competition is coming even as the rally for growth stocks has dulled some of the allure for the JPMorgan funds.

ROCHESTER, New York, May 15 (Reuters) - The PGA Tour and LIV Golf take their feud to Oak Hill Country Club for the PGA Championship this week with the Saudi-bankrolled rebel circuit again seeking major validation. That was until world number one Spaniard Jon Rahm came to the PGA Tour's rescue, finishing top of the leaderboard to leave Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson runners-up. Like the Masters there will be 18 LIV members in the field led by twice PGA Championship winners Koepka and 52-year-old Mickelson and Australian Cameron Smith, who signed on with LIV after winning last year's British Open. Rahm and world number two Scottie Scheffler both are in top form coming into Rochester. Spieth, who withdrew from the Byron Nelson citing a left wrist injury, needs only a PGA Championship to join the elite club that includes, Woods, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus.
Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis admitted that she misrepresented evidence while pushing election fraud lies. Ellis conceded to misrepresenting the facts 10 times in interviews with Fox News and other outlets. She was publicly censured in Colorado disciplinary proceedings, but will still be able to practice law. Ellis admitted in a Colorado disciplinary proceeding to getting the facts wrong about the results of the 2020 election. In a statement after the judge's opinion, Colorado's Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel said it wasn't pursuing any other charges against Ellis.
Under the agreement released on Wednesday between Ellis and Colorado attorney disciplinary officials, Ellis acknowledged making 10 "misrepresentations" about the 2020 election. The misrepresentations included saying Trump's legal team could "prove" the election was stolen and that the results were "fraudulent," according to the opinion by Judge Bryon Large, the state's presiding disciplinary judge. Ellis' attorney Michael Melito in a statement said that his client "remains a practicing attorney in good standing in the State of Colorado. The parties also agreed that Ellis "had a selfish motive" and had "engaged in a pattern of misconduct." Ellis was the subject of a bar complaint filed by The 65 Project, a group that has filed ethics complaints against lawyers who alleged fraud in the 2020 election without evidence.
The bank launches the JPMorgan Active Small Cap Value ETF (JPSV) on Wednesday with a goal to outperform the Russell 2000 index of small cap companies. Playford co-manages two other mutual funds — the JPMorgan Small Cap Blend Fund and the JPMorgan Mid Cap Value Fund — both of which sport four-star, silver ratings from Morningstar. Playford's small cap fund, for example, was in the top quartile of small cap growth funds in 2022, according to Morningstar. The new JPSV fund, with an expense ratio of 0.74%, will operate as a semi-transparent ETF. "Active small cap value can be a compelling addition to investor portfolios.
The JPMorgan Premium Equity ETF (JEPI) has a 12-month rolling dividend yield over 11%, and its 30-day SEC yield was just under that mark as of the end of February. The biggest funds in the market track indexes, like the S & P 500, and give investors market returns minus fees. But 2022 was a surprisingly good year for active managers , and active ETFs gained some share against their passive counterparts. The JPMorgan Ultra-Short Income ETF (JPST) has also been popular this year, with $1 billion of inflows and a 30-day SEC yield above 4%. Among the firm's smaller active fixed income funds, the Core Plus Bond ETF (JCPB) has a roughly similar yield, while the Income ETF (JPIE) yields above 6%.
New York CNN —All niceties have been thrown out the window as DirecTV finds itself ensnared in an ugly carriage dispute with Newsmax. The satellite carrier, which refuses to buckle to pressure and pay millions of dollars to broadcast the network’s low-rated programming, unleashed on the right-wing talk channel on Tuesday. At the center of the dispute: Newsmax has demanded DirecTV pay millions in carriage fees to continue including the channel in its lineup. They’ve accused DirecTV — which just added another right-wing talk channel to its lineup — of censoring conservative voices. Newsmax, led by Chris Ruddy, who is well-connected in GOP circles, has in recent weeks used its platform and political power to pressure DirecTV into paying up.
Rep. Matt Gaetz was one of 20 House Republicans who challenged Kevin McCarthy's speaker bid. Gaetz told Insider that he's happier cruising along than climbing the political ladder. Earlier this week McCarthy named the 12 House Republicans spearheading a new "weaponization of federal government" subcommittee that was one of Gaetz's top priorities during the speaker vote negotiations. Jordan and other House Republicans are already stepping all over each other to chip away at President Joe Biden's reelection prospects ahead of the 2024 election. As one GOP strategist told Insider earlier this month about Gaetz: "I don't think this guy's looking to be a policymaker."
An Image purporting to show a statement from former U.S. President Donald Trump has been shared online to claim that he rescinded his support to Rep. Kevin McCarthy and endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds for the position of Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. House members should now rally behind Bryon Donalds, who will be sure to push the MAGA agenda. Trump clarified in a Truth Social post on Jan. 4 that, “the story and statement that was just put out that I endorsed Byron for Speaker of the House is Fake and Fraudulent” (here). The claim is being shared after Republicans in the House of Representatives failed again on Wednesday to elect a leader, Reuters reported (here). Trump did not release a statement endorsing Rep. Byron Donalds for the House Speaker.

Qatar and the world need wait no more, after this controversial tournament got underway Sunday with the host losing 2-0 to Ecuador. People watch as fireworks go off before the start of the World Cup at the Al Bayt Stadium. The country’s last-minute ban of alcohol in World Cup stadiums also made headlines around the world. Lake runs the JPMorgan Ultra-Short Income ETF (JPST) , which is currently the largest actively managed ETF in the world. "Investors are using JPST as a place to hide out while they wait for the market to find its footing," he said. The actively managed ETF invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of short-term, investment grade fixed-and floating-rate corporate and structured debt. "But when you're looking at a passive kind of fixed income benchmark, that's not exactly how investors really think about investing in bonds." Traders investing in bond ETFs, according to Lake, are looking for a fund that will balance a portfolio and offer yield with a low correlation to equities.

Michael Dell's family office is merging with merchant bank BDT to form a new investment and advisory firm. Back in 2008, when he was still working at Goldman Sachs, Trott was publicly praised by Warren Buffett, whose distaste for M&A bankers — and Goldman Sachs — is notorious on Wall Street. "Byron is the rare investment banker who puts himself in his client's shoes," Buffett said in a letter to investors. The combination, the companies said on Thursday, "will create the preeminent advisory and investment firm serving the distinct needs of family- and founder-led business owners and strategic, long-term investors." Here's how Trott, a Midwest native, went from a small-town football player to an investment banker advising billionaires:
Las Vegas police said Monday they are investigating a fan's contact with the quarterback of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals immediately after the team's win Sunday. Video shows someone in the stands at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium reaching over fans at the end zone barrier and making contact with the face of the Cardinals' Kyler Murray with an open hand. Murray had just skipped past the end zone and toward the stands to celebrate his team's walk-off win with back-pats and high-fives. Murray's representative, the Cardinals and the team's opponent and host Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Arizona defeated Las Vegas 29-23 when cornerback Bryon Murphy Jr. recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown in overtime.
